iSpeak has one Telegram bot. It sends you notifications, replies to questions with the same assistant you use in the app, and can open a support ticket. This article covers connecting, notifications, asking questions and privacy.

Connecting Telegram

You can connect at two moments:

  • At registration. The One last step screen after sign-up has a Telegram row. Depending on platform settings it is required or optional, and an optional row has Skip. If you skip it, a one-time reminder card appears on Discovery.
  • Later. Open the avatar menu, choose Settings, then Connected accounts, and press Connect on the Telegram row.

Both paths use the same link. Telegram asks you to confirm, then the bot asks you to press Start once. That single step gives the bot permission to message you. If the Telegram widget does not open, use the Open Telegram fallback.

The row then shows Connected. Only the connect action creates this link; a phone number on your profile does not.

Notifications on Telegram

Once connected, a Telegram column appears in Settings › Notifications next to in-app and email. The rows are Messages, Community, Announcements, Classes, Membership and Platform. A row is on for Telegram wherever email was on when you linked. Receipts and security notices always arrive when linked.

Each Telegram message has a bold title, a short body and an Open in iSpeak button that lands on the right page. Notifications that reached Telegram show a small Telegram icon in your in-app list.

To pause:

  • Send /stop to the bot, or press Pause on the Telegram row in Connected accounts.
  • Press Resume in the same row to start again.
  • Press Unlink to remove the connection and stop everything at once.

If you block the bot in Telegram, the row shows Unreachable with a reconnect hint. Nothing is retried until you reconnect.

Asking the bot questions

Write any text message to the bot and the iSpeak assistant replies. It is the same assistant and the same knowledge as the Ask panel in the app, not a copy.

Linked to your iSpeak accountPersonal answers about your schools, classes, memberships and payments, under your own permissions
Not linkedPublic answers about iSpeak, plus an invitation to link your account

While it thinks, you see the typing indicator. Replies are short, in plain paragraphs, with up to three buttons: Open in iSpeak, Talk to support and New conversation. The bot keeps the thread of your conversation until you start a new one.

Commands you can send:

  • /new starts a fresh conversation.
  • /support opens a support ticket with your recent messages attached and replies with the ticket number.
  • /help shows a short help text with a link to your settings.
  • /stop pauses notifications.

The bot answers in your interface language. For an unlinked chat it follows the language of your message, with English as the fallback.

The bot works in private chats only and reads text. Photos, voice notes and files get a polite text-only reply, and messages in groups are ignored.

Daily limit

Each chat has a daily limit of questions, 40 by default. When you reach it, the bot tells you and the limit resets at midnight in your time zone. The Ask panel in the app keeps working.

If the iSpeak team switches the bot off for maintenance, you receive a short maintenance message instead of an answer.

Privacy

  • The bot runs the assistant only as the account linked to that chat. It cannot be told to act as someone else.
  • An unlinked chat never sees member data.
  • Conversations are logged so the iSpeak team can review answer quality and open tickets. Your encrypted in-app chats are never part of this.
  • Nothing is ever sent to a Telegram account that is not linked.

Common questions

Can I sign in to iSpeak with Telegram? No. Telegram is for linking, notifications and questions. Sign in with your email, Google or Microsoft.

I connected but receive nothing. Open the bot chat and press Start, then check that the Telegram column is on in Settings › Notifications.

Does the bot know who I am? Only when your chat is linked. Then it answers about your account, exactly as the in-app assistant does.

Can school owners message members on Telegram? Not directly. The iSpeak team can send platform announcements to linked members.

Can I have the bot on two phones? Telegram delivers to your Telegram account, so every device signed in to that account receives the messages.
