Cookie Policy
Last updated: · Version 3
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies iSpeak uses, what each one is for, and how you choose. Essential cookies always run; everything else runs only if you say yes in the cookie banner.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies are local storage, session storage and pixels (tiny images or scripts that report a visit). We use "cookies" below for all of them.
2. The categories we use
Essential (always on). Needed for iSpeak to work and cannot be switched off:
- your sign-in session and security tokens;
- the cookie-consent choice itself;
- protection against cross-site request forgery and abuse;
- the Stripe checkout session when you pay.
Preferences (always on, stored on your device only). Your interface language, time zone, the sidebar state, which tab you last opened, drafts you have not sent, and the encryption keys for your private messages. These live in your browser's local storage, are never sent to advertising services, and are deleted when you clear your browser data or unlink the device.
Analytics (only with your consent). Help us understand how iSpeak is used: which pages open, how long they take to load, where errors happen. Data is aggregated; we do not use it to profile you.
Marketing (only with your consent). iSpeak itself sets no marketing cookies. A School Owner may add a Facebook pixel or a Google tag to their own School page to measure their advertising. These load only after you accept marketing cookies, only on that School's pages, and the School Owner is responsible for them. Their providers' policies apply: Meta and Google.
Embedded content. Lessons may embed YouTube or Vimeo videos and other media. These providers may set their own cookies when the video loads. We use privacy-enhanced embed modes where the provider offers them.
3. Your choice
- The first time you visit, the banner asks you. "Accept all" switches on analytics and marketing; "Essential only" keeps them off. Nothing non-essential runs before you choose.
- You can change your choice at any time: open the footer link Cookies, or Settings › Privacy › Cookies. Switching a category off stops those cookies from then on and deletes the ones we control.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies will sign you out and break checkout.
- Your choice is stored for 12 months, then we ask again.

5. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as "Essential only" and do not load analytics or marketing cookies.
6. Changes
We update this policy when the cookies we use change. The effective date at the top tells you when. Material changes are announced in the app.
7. Languages
This policy is written in English and provided in Russian and Turkmen for convenience. If the versions differ, the English text is the legally binding one.
